Mt. Baker Ski Area is a ski resort located in Whatcom County, Washington, United States at the end of State Route 542. The base elevation is at 3,500 feet (1,100 m), while the peak of the resort is at 5,089 feet (1,551 m).
Mt. Baker holds the record as the biggest snow collector in the world - 1,140 inches in the '98-'99 season - and averages 647 inches every year. The resort also annually plays host to the largest snowboard race in the world with 240 competitors in its Legendary Banked Slalom. Mt. Baker ski area is known for numerous challenging inbounds routes and for the many backcountry opportunities which surround it.
